Sunday Ridin'
Had a grand Sunday Riding the Bonneville Chop with Terry (red pre-unit rigid) and Jack (T110).
Hit Jacks Hill Cafe and found a lovely Francis Barnett (Check out that speedo drive!) and then headed off for a ride to Thornby where that cool Laverda was - owned by a nice guy by the name of Mike, nice AJS there too!

All is good in the world.
The Bonnie chop is back on the road so can ride tomorrow, the 500 engine is now getting done, the scrambler seat has now gone for a lovely leather tuck 'n' roll job, and just had a few beers and some chips in the sun on the pushbikes......now just time for an afternoon nap before a bar-b-q with mates (and no drunken scrambler riding down the back lane Margo I nearly promise!)

Hot weather.....Bad Bearings
Just as the lovely weather sets back in the front bearings on the Bonneville have decided to give up the ghost.
Insult to injury - the engine's still out of the 500, the seats away for a custom upholstering job on the scrambler......Bike-less again!
Pedal power and alcohol this weekend then.

The City Scrambler.....
Been working on tidying up the CL - trying to keep it minimal and fit for the purpose it was bought for (So Margo and I can get out to country pubs and for me to run errands on) but it's coming out nice.
Cleaned up the front and rear ends (Thanks for the use of the Lathe again Greg), the seat goes off for a seventies scrambler style tuck 'n' roll job on Friday and the Tanks off to Flakey Dave for some paint soonish.

Jimi's Bike
Half Quoted.....
A local Craigslist (in the USA obviously) ad served up this 1968 Honda 305 Scrambler with an interesting pedigree. Registration papers showed the bike once found itself in the care of Kenneth R. Howard, better known as the master-pin-striper and designer Von Dutch.
That explains the wild paint and would typically be enough to give any machine a little notoriety, but something cooler came up in the research.
The registration and lease and liability card had it dated March of '68 listed for a James Douglas Morrison living on Sunset Boulevard
While there are many James Morrisons in the world, only one went on to world-wide fame as Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors.
The new owner actually Googled and found a copy of his driver's license. That address matches his driver's license issued in 12/67!!!!!
The Scrambler is currently undergoing a quick service and will be running and rideable within a week. From there, the pin-striped 305 is headed for display at this year's Pebble Beach, though not for auction. The bike is for sale independently. Outside estimates have put the value between $50,000 and $100,000. Not bad for an old Craigslist find.
Why do these finds never happen to me?

J.A.P V8
A friend of mine - Andy (Who has a killer Riley) - sent me this today, built around 4 JAP V twins on a common crank – so making a V8 – only built a couple of years ago but the builder is the king of patination and there is no way you can tell – its fast too – and I have it on good authority that he drives it like a nutter.
Cool as you like!
